Journey into the next 50 years.
first let me tell you about our journey into the next 50 years.I always wondered how it would be if it would rain cats and dogs. Well…it did rain…not cats and dogs.. but enough! What would have been a nice spring rain! But it didn’t spoil the mood at all. On the contrary, it caused us to drive a lot longer to find a covered area for our picnic! And that turned out to be in the beautiful forests and mountains of the Dandenongs, wonderful! It became a real mystery tour. Because Robert, our good drive (first class I must say) was not prepared for the rain. So he manouvered that giant bus uphill, and downhill from one razor sharp curve into the other. The spot which he had first chosen was occupied by a hundred japanes without contrabas (title of a song). There they stood…right under the roof…and enjoyed their tucker and enjoyed their chats and we stood outside in the rain. So we drove on.
And then he found us a covered area, with the help of all grandchildren and guests. The spot also had some urgently needed toilets and under the roof was a bbq, and Robert had another one with him and in no time at all we were eating. Hedwig’s coffee thermos’s had tipped over in the bus and the water had spilled out. But that didn’t matter because the spot even had some boiling water! What a beautiful magnificent day! The mood was fantastic, the children well behaved and full of fun, the music was excellent and like I mentioned, even the journey was full of discoveries, through forests and mountains. Hedwig was on top of the world. And afterwards we even called in at Susies place for a cup of coffee. Hedwig had made a Sachertorte which because of my contribution turned out a bit problematic. I had added the chocolate topping. Well..it was a big thick and as hard as a rock! It would be better to keep my fingers out of things that I know nothing about and am not suited to! But it didn’t matter. Inge gave the old folk a nice cup of cocoa and everyone was happy.
To sum up, it couldn’t have been better. For me the weather had another advantage, in that the sun couldn’t harm me, something I had really worried over!
