Fridolin 1

And now to Fridolin. A problem! He is a dwarf Opossum. He lives somewhere in our garden, or maybe even under our roof. Once, with a lot of ingenuity, I made a video of him. We’ve known for a long time that he exists. He neatly digs out nuts and large seeds before he pinches them. Otherwise he does not cause any problems and is clean and careful. The problem is that on first sight, he looks like a rat! On closer inspection you can tell that he isn’t a rat. He also behaves quite differently. His forefeet are just like hands, and he is very handy. He doesn’t touch rat poison. The only thing for which he risks his life are Almonds and such like. And he is a protected species. In other words, you can’t harm him. In our front sunroom there is no ceiling, and the rafters are uncovered. And diagonally across this room I have stretched an extension cord, over the rafters, to the other side of the room, where our microwave is. We can't tell why but that is where he heads, at least once a night, ropedancing across the extension lead. And sometimes he doesn’t quite make it back in time. Once he stopped halfway and looked at me from above. Well, I looked back from below. When I opened my mouth he fled.
And it appeared as if he never came into the kitchen, even thought the door is sometimes open, and the most delicious stuff can be found there! But just then he proved me wrong. He was in the vicinity of the rubbish basket, looked at me and disappeared quickly in the direction of my bedroom. Yuck! A rat after all! What a poor sod I am!

All the best to you. It is 5.30 am and for a while the birds have already been busy with their concerts.
