budding pilot

Dear Harald,
....
Some good news. Yesterday our Peter started taking flying lessons. With the teacher as copilot he has already flown for one hour. He has been dreaming about this already since he was a young boy. A while ago he applied for the air force, but was not accepted due to his color blindness. But today that doesn’t matter any more, the laws have been changed in Australia. Two years ago he completed a course in hang gliding, and some time ago in New Zealand he did a bungy jump from a helicoptre. So you could say he is used to heights!
I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. He has suddenly become a different person. Now he is enthusiastic again, the last few years he has been a bit down. This morning he surfed the internet to see what specials were available.
I feel he has a very interesting job and he earns well. But he is not fulfilled. In his opinion even programming becomes routine in the end. Actually I can understand him. I have never been able to stand monotony. So this should keep him busy for 2 years, until he has his pilot license. I hope he keeps it up.
Greetings. Peter.
